-What materials will you need? Do you need to cover the table first? smock/old t shirt? Paint, water, soap, paper towels? paint brushes? glue? Gather what you will need.
-Look for pictures of pizza's: candy, dinner, breakfast, etc.
-What do you call your pizza?

Dance Party:
Dance to Italian music
-use scarves or dish towels to dance with
Block Area: Pizza Delivery
-Place a large piece of paper (brown paper bag cut sides to open up)
-Draw a map of roads near your house.
-Use cars or loose pieces as cars/houses, etc.
-What number would you need to dial to call for a pizza delivery (made up number).
-Using an old phone or a block with paper numbers taped to it (call that number). (Say the numbers out loud as you dial)
Fingerplays:
5 Little Children
5 little children all in a row,
Ordered a pizza in a box to go.
The first one said "Pepperoni tastes so fine!"
The second one said "I want mushrooms on mine."
The third one said "I want peppers that are hot!"
The fourth one said "I want cheese...and a LOT!"
The fifth one said "Please add some spice."
And they all had a pizza that tasted mighty nice!
I Wish I Were a Pepperoni Pizza
(sung to I Wish I Were an Oscar Meyer Weiner)
Oh I wish I were a pepperoni pizza!
That's what I would truly love to be!
'Cuz if I were a pepperoni pizza,
Everyone would be in love with me!
(Sing several times changing the type of pizza to the type that the children like!)
Roll Your Dough
(sung to Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
Roll, roll, roll your dough smoothly as can be.
Roll it till it's big and round then add some good toppings.
_______(one child's name)--what do you like on your pizza? YUM!
Sing many times to include each child!
EXTENSION: As they say what they like, have them place a tally mark on a chart that has pizza toppings listed on them.
When done, count how many children like each topping.
Pizza Box Skating:
*Clean pizza boxes or paper plates
-Have children skate to music on carpet
Pizza Twister:
-Make a large circle on the floor
-then using tape: make triangles on that circle to resemble a pizza
-Mark off each triangle by either a color or a topping that goes on the pizza
-then on sticky paper squares, index cards or paper write the toppings (or a picture/color)
-Each person will choose a card (that is upside down). They must stay on that triangle, as they choose additional cards. All body parts must be touching each triangle (ie. first card: cheese, second card: mushroom, Third card: pepperoni -therefore I would have a foot on cheese and mushroom and a hand on the pepperoni, etc.).
Topping Toss:
-Use rolled up socks to toss onto a towel pizza. Say what type of topping you have (rolled up socks).
-The other person can choose what type of towel pizza they would like
"I would like to buy a Pepperoni Pizza. I would like 2 pepperoni's and 3 cheese on it." (then the tosser would toss 2 pepperoni's and 3 cheese balled up socks onto the towel pizza).
