What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
To collect all types of flowers you may find in your backyard, or walk. See what types of flowers you can collect, see what colors you may collect.

What is the lesson (overall purpose)?

- Methods, Materials, and Techniques. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques unique to the visual arts.
- Elements and Principles of Design. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the elements and principles of design.
- Observation, Abstraction, Invention, and Expression. Students will demonstrate their powers of observation, abstraction, invention, and expression in a variety of media, materials, and techniques.
- Drafting, Revising, and Exhibiting. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the processes of creating and exhibiting their own artwork: drafts, critique, self-assessment, refinement, and exhibit preparation.
- Critical Response. Students will describe and analyze their own work and the work of others using appropriate visual arts vocabulary. When appropriate, students will connect their analysis to interpretation and evaluation.
Learning Outcomes:
- investigate how various media, surfaces, tools, and techniques can be used to produce different visual effects.
- experiment with a single material/medium on multiple surfaces, try many materials on the same surface to discover the different ways materials can be used to produce a variety of effects, the advantages or disadvantages of each for specific purposes, and revisit materials to build on past experiences.
- experiment with combining various materials.
- use found materials to create collages (e.g., feathers, buttons, fabric, recycled materials).

Materials:
- Flowers
- Cardboard and/or paper
- Scissors
- Coloring Tools
- Glue and/or tape
- A photograph of you or your family
Activity (Procedure):
- Go on a flower hunt. See what flowers you can find outside, and if you have a bouquet of flowers inside the house, you can reuse those too!
- with adult supervision, cut your cardboard into the shape of a picture frame with cutting the middle part out.
- Glue/tape the flowers you have found to the cardboard
- Turn your frame over and tape the edges of the picture to your new flower frame!

- discuss use and care for art materials responsibly, carefully, and safely for the purpose intended.
