I would like the children to become more aware of the sun and how it is important to our planet. Talking about the difference when the sun is not out in the sky and what we are learning with our experiment.

Procedures: (Step by Step how to do the activity
Go outside and place different objects in a cupcake tray,butter,ice,chocolate and small objects in the sun for an hour, then look to see what ones melt? Take a walk and watch the sun to see how it changes throughout the day.
Materials:
Cupcake pan, Ice, Chocolate, Butter and small objects
Wrap-up:
Talk with the children about what happened in the cupcake pan and what they saw when watching the sun in the sky?
Assessment:
Experiment with different objects and food in the cupcake tray,discover many outcomes and effects.
Modifications:
If you don't have a cupcake pan you can use different bowls. If you can't get outside you can still place bowls at the window and wait longer for the outcome.
Helpful Hints:
The cup cake pans may get wet or if not placed directly under the sun there will be no reaction.
