What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
Learning what can take us to different places and be creative in making a boat.
MA Guidelines/Standards:
CD66. The younger toddler explores with sensory art materials and uses them to create visual effects.
PW32. The older toddler moves the body with purpose to achieve a goal.
Learning Outcomes:
Encourage creativity in using materials rather than imposing limits on how materials can be used.

Materials:
2 Coffee filter
Paper
Glue
marker/ watercolor paint
Popsicle
Spray coffee filter with water (optional)
Activity (Procedure):
Color both coffee filter with markers, paint,
Fold coffee filter in half and glue it on paper
Glue popsicle stick on top
Fold the other into triangle and glue to the top of popsicle stick
Activity Wrap Up:
Can talk about boats and where they travel (water). If the child has experience riding on a boat, see if they can tell you the story about it.
How do I know what my child is learning(Assessment)
Let them explore the materials and be creative.
How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
You can use paper plates, tissue paper, paper towels, instead of coffee filters, I used markers and dotter paint and sprayed a small squire of water.
Helpful Hints: (Pitfalls & Solutions)
The pitfall is if you do spray with water make sure it is in/on something that you are fine with being colored. The color will leak through. The Solution is to put it on a tray, paper plate, or ect.
