What is our lesson? Rocket ship!
What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
To learn about rocket ships and what they are used for?
This is also a great way to work on fine motor skills.
MA Guidelines/Standards:
PW36.Toddler controls small muscles in hand.
CD66.Toddler explores with sensory art materials and uses them to create visual effects.
CD69. Toddler creatively explores and experiments using a variety of sensory materials and mediums.
Learning Outcomes:
I would like the child to learn about rocket ships and how they are used for transportation? The similarities and the differences to other forms of transportation.

Materials:
Paper Towel Roll-Foil-Paper-stickers
Tissue Paper-Glue-Foil-Tissue Paper
Activity (Procedure):
Wrap paper towel roll in foil smoothing out the bumps.
Form a foil roof, place on the top of the paper towel roll and glue. Decorate with stickers and make a flame on the bottom from orange tissue paper. Glue flame in the inside bottom and leave to dry. Rockets can be displayed in the house or outside.
Activity Wrap Up:
Can you identify what rocket looks like and what they are used for? Talk about where and when you would see them?
How do I know what my child is learning(Assessment)
Experiment with different materials to see how to produce a variety of effects. What works and what does not?
How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
If you're having a hard time gluing the foil roof,you can double a Triangle shape and tape to the top.
Helpful Hints: (Pitfalls & Solutions)
If no paper towel roll you can use a toilet paper roll.
If there is no tissue paper you can use orange paper for flame at bottom.
