What is our theme? Coral Reef
What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
To learn about the coral reefs and they are and what they do for other ocean animals

APL 2: The child will demonstrate eagerness and curiosity as a learner.
APL4: The child will demonstrate creativity in thinking and use of materials.
APL5: The child will cooperate with others in play and learning.
APL8: The child will be able to retain and recall information.
RL.PK.1 (MA). With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about a story or poems read aloud.
RL.K.3. With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.
RL.PK.10. Listen actively as an individual and as a member of a group to a variety of age-appropriate literature read aloud.

Materials
Go outside in your back or front yard and get a like the one in the picture below.
Any colors of paint that you would like.
If you have glitter, that would be great too.
Activity (Procedure):
paint the branches different colors. While the paint is wet, if you have glitter, sprinkle the glitter on your branches to make it look sparkly.
Activity Wrap Up:
Watch the video first then ask them questions like, What are coral reefs, are they rocks, plants or an ocean animal? What do the coral reefs do for the animals in the ocean? etc.
How do I know what my child is learning? (Assessment)
Is your child able to remember and answer questions from the video?
How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
You can give them playdough to make a base.

If you don’t have paint, they can use markers.
