What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
Exploring their sense of touch and understanding color mixing
MA Guidelines/Standards:
APL4: The child will demonstrate creativity in thinking and use of materials.
APL8: The child will be able to retain and recall information.
RL.PK.5. Show awareness of the rhythmic structure of a poem or song by clapping or movement.
RL.PK.9. With prompting and support, make connections between a story or poem and one’s own experiences.
Learning Outcomes:
Exploring colors and seeing what colors we make when we mix
Songs, Books & Videos (Motivational Techniques)
Song: (tune to Mary had a little lamb)
If you’re wearing red today, red today, red today.
If you’re wearing red today, stand up and shout “ Hooray!”
Repeat it but with different colors.
Materials
Activity (Procedure):
Paint one hand a color, then have them put their hand flat onto the paper. Do the same thing with the other hand. After, they can rub their hands together to mix the paint and see what color they mixed. You can do that with all the colors.
Activity Wrap Up:
Ask your child, if we mix other colors like……, what color do you think we’ll get or will we even get a color? and what did the paint feel like while they were rubbing their hands together?
