What is our theme? Let’s go on a bug hunt
What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
To learn to be respectful insects “living things”
MA Guidelines/Standards:
APL4: The child will demonstrate creativity in thinking and use of materials.
APL8: The child will be able to retain and recall information.
PK-LS2-2 (MA). Using evidence from the local environment to explain how familiar plants and animals meet their needs where they live.
Learning Outcomes:
learning about different bugs

Materials
Look for bugs
Activity (Procedure):
Just go in your back yard, and find some bugs (but please be kind to the bugs)
Activity Wrap Up:
How many bugs did you find? What kind of bugs did you find? What was your favorite bug that you found?
How do I know what my child is learning? (Assessment)
Is your child able to tell you what kind of bugs they found and how many.
How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
you can give them a shovel to dig for bugs ( please make sure your child is kind and respectful to the insects they find)
Helpful Hints: (Pitfalls & Solutions)
If you can’t go outside due to the weather, they can just tell you about bugs they know about and draw a picture of bugs they know.
