What is the lesson (overall purpose)?
To be able to learn the different habitats of the insects

SEL7: The child will demonstrate the ability to communicate with others in a variety of ways.
SEL8: The child will engage socially, and build relationships with other children and with adults.
APL 2: The child will demonstrate eagerness and curiosity as a learner.
APL4: The child will demonstrate creativity in thinking and use of materials.
Learning Outcomes:
To learn the different habitat for the insects and what they do to eat

Materials
outdoor natural materials
(sticks, sand, leaves, rocks, pine needles etc)
Activity (Procedure):
Make for an insect (ant hill, bee hive etc)
Activity Wrap Up:
What home(s) did you make? Why did you make it?
How do I know what my child is learning? (Assessment)
Is your child able to make a home for the insect(s) and is your child able to tell you why they picked that or those homes to make.
How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
you can give them buckets and shovels
Helpful Hints: (Pitfalls & Solutions)
If you can’t be outside because the weather is not nice, you can draw the home(s) for the insect
