Our Lessons For the Week! Ocean animal week!

What is our theme? Draw an ocean scene 

What is the lesson (overall purpose)?  
To learn about the different ocean animals and their purpose.

MA Guidelines/Standards:
SEL7: The child will demonstrate the ability to communicate with others in a variety of ways.
APL 1: The child will demonstrate initiative, self-direction, and independence.
APL 2: The child will demonstrate eagerness and curiosity as a learner.
APL4: The child will demonstrate creativity in thinking and use of materials.
APL5: The child will cooperate with others in play and learning.
APL8: The child will be able to retain and recall information.
RL.PK.1 (MA). With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about a story or poems read aloud.
RL.K.3. With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story.
RL.PK.10. Listen actively as an individual and as a member of a group to a variety of age-appropriate literature read aloud.

Activity (Procedure):
Draw a picture of an ocean scene 

Activity Wrap Up:
Ask your child questions of their pictures that they made like, what kind of fish did you put in your picture? Did you add any coral to your picture? etc.

How can you extend this activity? (Modifications)
You can have your child go outside to grab some grass outside for seaweed and other things from outside they would like to add to their pictures.

Helpful Hints: (Pitfalls & Solutions)
If you don’t have paper, you can use stop and shop paper bags
